The Big Dance Off! 2010

Registrations are now being taken for “The Big Dance Off! 2010”, which is a charity dance competition being held at the Olympos Leisure Centre, Burgess Hill on the 18th of December.
The event will be raising money for ‘The Advance Centre' and ‘The Early Birth Association'.
The competition is open to dancers of all ages, styles and abilities, and you can enter as a solo dancer, or part of a couple or team.

Salsa Party in aid of The NACC

On Saturday 7th August, a fundraising ‘Salsa Party' is being held at the Clair Hall in Haywards Heath.
The evening gets under way at 7.30pm, with a salsa dance taster session for beginners, followed by a whole evening of salsa dancing for all.
All proceeds from the event will go to the National Association for Crohn's & Colitis (The NACC).

The British Heart Foundation – volunteers required

The British Heart Foundation are looking for people to help in their Burgess Hill charity shop.
Duties include serving customers, till work, pricing and tagging clothes, plus sorting books, music, bric-a-brac.
Experience of shop work would be an advantage but is not essential as full training is provided.
Hours are flexible, but commitment to a regular time each week would be preferred.

Southdowns Healthcare NHS Trust - befrienders required

Southdowns Healthcare NHS Trust provide healthcare in the community, mental health, learning disability and specialised children's services.
The team are currently looking for befrienders, to help provide company and social activities for children and young people with disabilities at their respite care homes in Burgess Hill and Chailey.
Volunteers would help with play, communication and with outings, which take place school during term-time, plus during the day at weekends and in the school holidays.
Potential volunteers would need to be regular and reliable, enjoy being with children, and have an attitude of respect for people with disabilities.
The role is ideal for a student or anyone who is young in spirit.

Cancervive - trustees and fundraisers required

Cancervive is a national charity based in Mid Sussex and was established to address the needs of anyone whose family or friends are cancer sufferers.
They are currently looking to recruit trustees and fundraisers to be involved in the growth and development of the charity.

West Sussex County Council Youth Service - Summer Roadshows

West Sussex County Council Youth Service are currently looking for young people aged 11-19 to perform at some of their summer roadshows.
These are running every Wednesday throughout the summer holidays at various locations across Mid Sussex, and they are currently looking for people to perform at their events in Cuckfield on Wednesday 4th August and Balcombe on Wednesday 11th August.

Charity Race Night at Wivelsfield Green Village Hall

On Saturday the 31st of July, there's a charity race night being held at Wivelsfield Green Village Hall.
The event is in aid of the The Sydney-Mae Fund, which helps purchase any equipment required to help Sydney Mae Wiggins, a local two year old who was born with cerebral palsy.
On the night, there'll be a professional ‘Race Night host' to run the proceedings and there'll also be an auction and prize raffle.
Tickets are just £10.00, which includes a bowl of chilli and rice – and you can bring your own drinks too.

Cruse Bereavement Care |
Cruse Bereavement Care are looking for a ‘fundraising and communications coordinator' in order to help research funding opportunities and submit funding applications to relevant organisations.
The role would also include organising fundraising events, promoting Cruse in the local media and liaising with bereavement volunteers.
Much of the work could be undertaken from home but occasional travel would be necessary.
Applicant need to be literate; have experience in any of the required areas of work; have initiative and drive; be able to organise his or her own time and work as part of a team.

Cancer Journey (Cuckfield) - Volunteers needed

‘Cancer Journey' is a Cuckfield based charity, which has been set up to ensure that everyone affected by cancer can find the information they need at the time they need it.
They provide a Helpline, open 10am - 4pm seven days week, as well as a website with a comprehensive enquiry service.
The charity is completely reliant on donations and proceeds from fundraising events - so volunteers are needed to organise (and assist at) local events, and help raise awareness of the service through distribution of leaflets.

Age Concern - Saturday Club |
Age Concern in Haywards Heath run a twice-monthly Saturday Club, which offers support to carer's of people with Dementia.
For nearly four years, the club has helped many carers enjoy a days break, knowing that their loved ones are in a safe and caring environment.The Saturday Club is open every 2nd and 4th Saturday in the month at the Age Concern Day Centre in Perrymount Road , Haywards Heath.It costs £15 a day to attend. The day centre provides a full care service, lunch, entertainment and refreshments within the cost. Transport can be arranged if needed too.

National Talking Newspapers/Magazines - Volunteers required |

'National Talking Newspapers and Magazines' is a registered charity which brings print to life by transcribing a wide variety of popular newspapers and magazines into a range of accessible formats for the blind or visually impaired. Volunteers are needed to come into their studios in Heathfield to be the ‘voice' of various newspapers and magazines - which are then put onto CD and cassette. No previous experience is required, but all potential readers will be asked to an audition to check their suitability. Full support and training is given.

The West Sussex Signpost Service surgery is run by Southdown Housing Association, and is held on the second Friday of each month between 9.30-11.30am at the Burgess Hill Help Point in Church Walk.
